Let's Work Together

Let's make a record.

I work with artists on production, recording, mixing, mastering, and everything in between.

Sometimes that means being involved from the first demo through the final master. Sometimes it means stepping in for one specific part of the process. Either way, the goal is the same:

Figure out what the record needs and make it better.

Production

I help shape the record from the ground up. Songs, arrangements, performances, tones, instrumentation, pacing, and all the details that make the music feel like you. I'm not interested in forcing artists into a formula. The job is figuring out what makes your music special and pushing that as far as we can.

Recording

Come make the record at The Panda Studios in the San Francisco Bay Area. Full-band tracking, drums, guitars, bass, vocals, overdubs, reamping, weird experiments, and whatever else the project calls for.

Editing

Already tracked somewhere else and just need the performances cleaned up? Vocal tuning and comping, guitar and bass editing, drum editing and sound replacement, timing fixes, whatever the takes need to feel tight without feeling lifeless.

Mixing

Already have the record tracked? Send me the multitracks and I'll take it from there. The goal isn't to force your music into my sound. It's to find the version of your record that hits the hardest and communicates what you were trying to make in the first place.

Mastering

Finished mixes that need the final step. I master records with the same philosophy I use when producing and mixing: serve the music first.

How I Work

I want to hear the music first.

Send me a demo, rough mix, finished mix, voice memo, whatever you have. I'll actually listen to it, read what you're trying to accomplish, and get back to you personally.

If it feels like a good fit, we'll talk through the project, figure out what you actually need, and build the right plan from there.

Not Sure What You Need?

That's completely fine.

A lot of artists come to me thinking they need one thing and realize after we talk that the record needs something else entirely.

Send me what you have and tell me what you're trying to accomplish. I'll help you figure it out.

FAQ

How much does it cost?

Every project is different. Pricing depends on the scope of the record, how involved you want me to be, how much material there is, and what the project actually needs. Send me the music and some details and I'll give you a clear idea of what makes sense.

Do I need to come to California?

No. Production and recording often happen at The Panda Studios, but mixing, mastering, pre-production, feedback, reamping, and plenty of other work can happen remotely.

Can you just mix my record?

Absolutely. You don't need to hire me for the entire process.

Do you work with unsigned artists?

Yes. I care much more about the music, the artist, and whether I think I can help than what label is attached to it.

How far in advance should I reach out?

As early as possible is always better, especially for full production or recording projects. But reach out even if you're already deep into the record. If I have availability, I may be able to jump in quickly.

What should I send?

A link to whatever best represents the project right now. Demos, rough mixes, released music, Dropbox, Google Drive, SoundCloud, Spotify, whatever. It doesn't need to be polished.
